PDDS, Reporma Pilipinas, other groups and leaders, endorses former PACC Chairman Greco Belgica to run for Mayor of Manila

Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) and Reporma Pilipinas has endorsed the candidacy of former Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Chairman Greco Belgica as Mayor of Manila in the 2025 elections.

Various religious groups, retired generals, former government officials, lawyers, sectoral leaders and businessmen have urged and endorsed Belgica to run for Mayor of Manila.

Belgica, who headed the PACC during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte, vowed to continue the fight against corruption, red tape, illegal drugs, and criminality in the premier city of the country.

He vowed to clean up city hall and create a more transparent, democratic government, create jobs and new industries in the city, and double social pension for seniors, students, solo parents, should he win the elections as Mayor of Manila.

“I want to restore a peaceful, cleaner, honest, just, transparent, and accountable government in the city. A government that serves the needs and concerns of the people especially the poor,” he said.

“We must review and simplify government systems and policies to cut through bureaucracy and push for an overhaul of a slow, bureaucratic, corrupt, and abusive local government that mirrors the corrupt national government, ” he added. “I will apply the concepts and principles I have been espousing in the Constitutional Convention in our City.”

He also said that he will push for a free economy, create jobs, open new industries, provide clean and green mass transportation services in the city and address the flooding problems of the city.

Belgica said he will ease the burden of taxpayers and businesses in the city and prioritize the fight against illegal drugs, crimes, corruption and redtape in government. All this to secure a more peaceful, clean, orderly, and progressive city where ordinary people, and not just politicians can thrive, dream, and succeed to create better lives in the city.  

He will also work for the abolition of real property taxes on homes and private properties.

Prior to the endorsements, Belgica has been championing the same platforms as lead convenor of the Pilipino Tayo movement.

The Pilipino Tayo movement is a group that has been calling on the government to call for a Constitutional Convention. Under Belgica’s lead, they have met with respected leaders, recognized experts and intellectuals from various industries, and LGU officials to discuss the initiative.

The group also held a Constitutional Convention in the Cordillera Administrative Region ( CAR ) that was participated by representatives from all sectors and provinces in the country.

Belgica also formerly served as a City Councilor in the City of Manila and chaired the committee on Police, Peace and Order, Fire and Public Safety.

He lead, organized and established the Yeshua Change Agents who spearheaded the calls and LGU trainings for the proper implementation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act in the cities and provinces in the Philippines.

In 2013, he also led the petition that abolished the Pork Barrel System of Congressmen and the President in the Supreme Court. This ruling is now called the “Belgica Ruling”.

As PACC chairman, Belgica led the most number of cases filed in court against corrupt government officials under the office of the President, imprisonment of the same, expose’, and has institutionalized anti-corruption committees in all government offices. 

Recently, PDDS and the Partido ng Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) signed an alliance to help promote common candidates for the 2025 elections. (Bong Son)
