Sa tangkang pagnanakaw ng kumpiskadong produkto ng BOC, 67 Pinoy at 10 Tsino arestado

NAPIGILAN ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang tangkang pagnanakaw ng mga kalakal na nasamsam ng nasabing ahensiya sa isang bodega na matatagpuan sa Pasay City, kung saan naaresto ang nasa 67 Filipino at 10 Chinese national sa isinagawang operasyon noong Huwebes, Oktubre 26, 2023.

Nabatid na selyado at naka-padlock ang bodega sa panahon ng operasyon ng BOC laban sa mga kalakal na lumalabag sa intellectual property rights (IPR), partikular na sa mga clothing apparel, footware, at mga bag.

Sinabi ni BOC-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) Director Verne Enciso na mas pinalakas ang kanilang operasyon katuwang ang CIIS-Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP).

“We received information from a well-placed asset that there was an ongoing theft in a Pasay warehouse we have previously sealed and padlocked. This warehouse had been subjected previously to a Letter of Authority (LOA),” ani Enciso.

Nang makatanggap ng impormasyon, nagsagawa ng operasyon ang isang team mula sa Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) ng BOC sa 112 M. Acosta St., Barangay 77, Pasay City upang mapigilan ang nasabing ilegal na aktibidad.

Sa nasabing operasyon, humigit-kumulang 67 Filipino at 10 Chinese national ang nahuling binabasag ang BOC seal at nakitang bitbit ang mga nakumpiska na ipinagbabawal na produkto mula sa itaas na palapag pababa sa ground floor.

Namataan din ng mga awtoridad ang isang close truck van (L300) na may plate number na TNP 882 na kargado ng mga na-forfeit na gamit.

Sinabi ni Commissioner Bien Rubio na agad na inutusan ang mga suspek na itigil ang aktibidad, at sasailalim sila sa inquest proceedings.

“This operation only goes to show the extent of the BOC’s mandate. More than stopping these illegal activities and seizing contraband products, we must also be at the forefront of ensuring that these seized items will remain in our custody until the cases are done and we are instructed by the proper courts on how to go about disposing or liquidating them,” paliwanag ni Rubio.

“The success of each operation, including seeing them through the legal proceedings, is crucial to the health of the Philippine industry. These operations show the seriousness of our work and send the right message to businesses that want to invest here,” ani Uy.

“It is not lost on us that what we do here has a direct impact on local businesses, local employment, and the attractiveness of the Philippines as an investment destination,” dagdag pa ni Uy.

Ang pinakahuling operasyong ito ay nakipag-ugnayan sa Enforcement and Security Service-Quick Reaction Team (ESS-QRT), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau Action Team Against Smuggling (BATAS), Public Information and Assistance Division (PIAD), at lokal na barangay.
