DPWH TRAVEL ADVISORY: ‘Egay’ Renders 13 Road Closures as of July 26 noon

As of 12:00 noon Wednesday, July 26, 2023, a total of 13 roads were closed to vehicular traffic in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) due to series of soil collapses, fallen trees, mudflow brought on by Super Typhoon Egay.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing the latest report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance said that the affected roads are as follows:

ABRA

1)            Abra – Ilocos Norte Road (intermittent section) due to soil collapse and fallen trees;

2)            Abra-Ilocus Sur Road (intermittent section) due to soil collapse and fallen trees;

3)            Abra-Kalinga Road (intermittent section) due to soil collapse and fallen trees;

BENGUET

1)  Kennon Road in Camp 6, Tuba due soil collapse and rock fall;

2)  Shilan – Beckel Road in Shilan, La Trinidad due to soil erosion;

APAYAO

  1. Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road in Madduang, Kabugao due to soil erosion;
  2. Claveria – Calanasan – Kabugao Road in Makadig Section, Rabaw Section and K0683+240 – K0683+270 in Naguilian and K0699+310 – K0699+330 in Ferdinand, Calanasan due to soil erosion;

KALINGA

  1. Mt. Province – Calanan – Pinukpuk – Abbut Road in Mallango, Tinglayan due to soil erosion;
  2. Lubuagan – Batong Buhay – Abra Bdry Road in Puapo, Dangtalan, Pasil due to soil erosion;

MT. PROVINCE

  1. Baguio – Bontoc Road, sections K0347+090 – 0347+180 in Mt. Data, Bauko; K0359+800 Tabbak Secion, Namatec, Sabangan; K0367+400 – K367+450, Bun-ayan, Sabangan; and K0379+850, Malitep, Bontoc due to series of soil collapse;
  2. Mt. Province – Nueva Vizcaya Road K0385+000 – K0385+015 and K0384+900 – K0384+950 sections in Samoki due to soil erosion;
  3. Mt. Province -Ilocos Sur via Tue Road, K0400+900 – K0400+910 and K0401+200 – K0401+220 sections in Balaoa, Tadian; and K0403+300 – K0403+305 section in Cabunagan, Tadian due to soil erosion; and
  4. Mt. Province – Cagayan via Tabuk – Enrile Road, K0407+800 – K0407+810 Tigil Section, Betwagan, Sadanga due to soil erosion.

Meanwhile, four (4) roads still have limited access due to soil collapse and flooding in CAR and MIMAROPA namely:

  1. Abra – Ilocos Norte Road K0422+898 – K0422+903, Abaroan, Danglas, Abra, one-lane passable due to soil collapse;
  2. Banaue – Hunduan – Benguet Boundary Road, K0355+960 – K0355+985, Bokiawan, Hunduan, Ifugao, one-lane passable due to soil collapse;
  3. Gov. Bado Dangwa National Road, K0313+450 – K0313+470, Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet, one-lane passable due to soil collapse; and
  4. Calapan South Road K0182+278, Brgy. Campaasan, Bulalacao, Mindoro Oriental which is flooded hence passable to heavy vehicles only.

Motorists are advised to take alternative routes while DPWH clears affected road sections.
