After his visit to Ilocos Norte, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. proceeds to Tuguegarao City in Cagayan Province to assess the current situation and the extent of the damages brought by Super Typhoon ‘Egay’ in the Cagayan Valley Region on July 29, 2023.
During his visit, the President presides over a situation briefing with local government officials and concerned agencies to discuss the rehabilitation efforts being undertaken to ensure the safety of Filipinos affected by the recent calamity.
President Marcos Jr. also leads the distribution of government assistance to residents affected by Super Typhoon ‘Egay’, which includes aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Agriculture (DA), and the Office of the President (OP).
Region II is one of the regions in Northern Luzon that was badly affected by the onslaught of Super Typhoon ‘Egay’.
Due to heavy rains and massive floodings, the calamity affected 250 barangays in four (4) provinces within the region, displacing more than 14,000 individuals.
According to DSWD-Region II, relief operations in the area are in full swing with the distribution of family food packs (FFPs) and non-food items (NFIs) to the families displaced by the calamity.
The agriculture and infrastructure sectors in the region have also experienced extensive damage.
The regional offices of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported losses of PhP340 million and PhP1.15 billion, respectively.
