Davao de Oro’s Military and Police Leaders Join Forces for Lasting Security

The 1001st Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army and the Davao de Oro Provincial Police held a significant meeting in July at the Provincial Capitol in Barangay Cabidianan, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro. This event marked the strengthening of their alliance through the Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Committee.

The meeting aimed to enhance collaboration and partnership between these security forces. Their shared objective is to support Peace, Law Enforcement, and Development Support Operations, preventing potential resurgence of the Communist Terrorist Group and sustaining the province’s insurgency-free status.

The committee emphasized the continuous identification and validation of potential resurgence areas or barangays in Davao de Oro. This proactive approach ensures timely intervention by the Local Government Units and Line Government Agencies, safeguarding the province’s peace.

In attendance were Brigadier General Felix Ronnie Babac, Commander of the 1001st Brigade, and Police Colonel Benedicto Faco, Provincial Director of the Davao de Oro PPO. Battalion Commanders of the 25IB and 60IB, along with Company Commanders, Chiefs of Police from Davao de Oro’s 11 Municipalities, and the DILG Provincial Office of Davao de Oro also participated. Governor Dorothy M. Gonzaga was represented by Rep. Ruwel Peter Gonzaga of the 2nd District of Davao de Oro.

The event concluded with the symbolic signing of a commitment wall, underscoring their dedication to nurturing lasting peace within the province.

Brigadier General Babac emphasized the importance of upholding Davao de Oro’s insurgency-free status. 

“Preserving the gains of an insurgency-free area demands a sustained, long-term commitment. Continued vigilance, adaptability to evolving threats, and engagement with local communities are essential in preventing any resurgence of insurgency,” he stated.

Davao de Oro was declared an insurgency-free province on June 22, 2022, a testament to the determination and sacrifices of the people against insurgency.

The collaboration witnessed during this meeting signifies a fortified alliance between security forces, safeguarding the hopes of the province’s citizens. Davao de Oro’s military and police leaders have reaffirmed their shared pledge to ensure a secure and prosperous future, free from the shadow of insurgency.
